House of Hospitality
Our main ministry is to operate our house of hospitality, where women and children experiencing homelessness come and live with us for about 6 to 12 months. The Catholic Worker staff and the guests live together in community in our beautiful Victorian home in downtown San Jose. At any given time, there are four to seven guests who live with us.
While living with us, our guests find work, save money, and eventually move into their own rented rooms or apartments as they are able.
Each night at 6 p.m. we gather around our dining room table for a community meal. We love visitors! Contact us to schedule a night to join us for dinner. It is a great way to get to know our community.
We are blessed by a dedicated team of volunteers and supporters, who cook, clean, mentor, weed, garden, and provide professional services for our community. If you would like to volunteer in some way, please contact us here.
